The Setting

Castelnau de Montmiral, designated as “one of the most beautiful villages in France” is an idyllic place to think, and write. The 13th century town has a patisserie, pharmacy, art gallery, small grocery store, and two bars and restaurants. Every Tuesday morning, the local farmers and artisans gather in the centre square to sell fresh produce, cheese, meat, pottery, and a variety of regional products. The many small roads that lead into the village proper are perfect for early morning or evening walks. (Writers will meet at the Young house on Rue Pierre de Gorsse, behind the new hotel and down the street from the fifteenth century Gothic church with its famous jewelled cross and pieta.) The town is 45 minutes from Blagnac, Toulouse International Airport.
